ABOUT A ZINE

Zine is a usually self-published, independent booklet which consists of original texts and images. It is non official publication and made either by one person or smaller group of people, enthusiasts of a certain cultural phenomenon. Usually it is cheaply-made, cheaply-priced and reproduced by photocopier.

Known for:

independence

autonomy

confrontational relationship with mainstream and communication media

Why made? For love of the subject, they think informations have to be shared. Content which mainstream media wouldn't post.

Techniques: rants (a way to critique, complainments), detournement (changing the context; example: newspaper image, changing the title), collages

It helps us get knowledge and is at the same time showcasing the process.

MY ZINE SPEAD - CRAFTMANSHIP

Intention of the spread is to work through the concept by making your own understanding of it: ask question, make relation between text and image.
