FOCUS ON PROJECTION
In between the words that we have chosen to visualise I have gotten the word standardisation.
I started of with the general research and afterwards I started the analogue collaging process. I have decided to work this week again with analogue collaging and combining it in photoshop.
THEME
what does standardisation mean?
what is the definition of standardisation?
Makers’ Bill of Rights
-it's involving a list of rules which every producer should stick to in order to have the most efficient product
-if everyone would stick to it, then there would be less waste
-this would make it easier for users and people to repair their product if there would be any kind of problems
Planned obsolescence: Why things don't last
-nowadays the problem of throwing away products
-European Parliament is looking at the lifecycle of the products with intention to reduce the waste
-one of many replaceable items is phone, invention of modular phone, of which every part can be fixed
-when you buy quality products, there is no planned obsolescence
-the problem nowadays is that many products are built in a way that you can not just take them apart and repair but the parts need to be replaced
-aim to encourage consumers to buy products which last longer no matter the higher price
-European lawmakers want to promote a circular lifecycle of products
-repairing things is good for the whole industry, since it creates more jobs and at the same time it saves resources
FINAL ZINE SPREAD
-instead of placing products and relating it to standardisation, I rather focused on resembling the production process and components of the electronic products
-I really like that the D of 'standardisation' includes elements of the electronics
-overall I was working mainly analogue and just took several pictures and played around with them
Open Design Now!
-the biosphere, our only home, is itself a kind of garden – and we have not looked after it well, on the contrary, we have damaged many of the food and water systems that keep us alive, and wasted vast amounts of non-renewable resources
-one of the reasons is because we under value socially created knowledge
-also what influences it is over-specialisation of knowledge, which actually affects the unseen decisions we take
-oppeness is a matter of survival, systematic challenges can't be solved in the same way as they were caused
-open research, open governance and open design are preconditions for changing actions
