COLLABORATIVE LEARNINGS
3
MAKER SKILLS AND ATTITUDE
the more white layers you have > better the outcome will be
-experimenting with conductive materials, have seen what you can use to make in order to make triggers functional; the conductive paint is very interesting but the downside part is that you need to apply a thick layer of it, to make it work
-gained inside about the graphical plates, how to connect it to the conductive materials
-I learned how to connect the graphic board to the computer and how to upload your own files, instead of using presets
-I experimented with foam, figured out you can not laser cut it precisely, it depends on the thickness but the surface is clean, the problem appears on the bottom when it melts so the lines are not straight anymore; I was using the left over foam so I decided to still incorporate it into my design, found solution for it: cover it with conductive material and paper
-UV printing experiments, figured out how important the white layer is, in order to create a good colourful print on the colourful background, you need to first print white layer in order to see the colours clearly
-problems with making the triggers sound because the conductive materials intertwined; you need to separate them very clearly
-I learned about the UV printer from Sander, it was completely at the beginning of the week; later on while making experiments I asked Rick for help with advice on UV printing the plexiglass glass, we have created quite few experiments together; I have learned about importance of having white under layer in order that the colours appears as wanted on the first place; the more white layers, the better the outcome
-I was collaborating the most with Rick since I was making his portrait, we gave each other feedback and suggestions on the incorporation of the elements
-Loes helped me with developing the 3D portrait idea, she suggested me to incorporate the paper origami instead of making the whole installation of blocks
-with Rick we also helped each other with sound integration, which sounds would make sense to incorporate and why
laser cutting foam doesn't work precisely
-working with Moritz and Audrey on the conductive workshop, Moritz's knowledge about graphic card helped the whole group understand the assignment and proceed with changing the MP3 sounds, we made triggers from several paper painted objects; learning point: the trigger needs to be strongly connected to the graphic card, otherwise it won't work
