WEEK 2
PLOT PARTY
Design and create a 'plot party' to research your peers’ preferences when it comes to working in collaborative environments. Aim is to come up with an interesting question which invites others to respond to it.

INSPIRATION
2
In order to be able to get an idea what a plot party actually is, I looked at the examples of infographic installations which could inspire me. I found some really interesting examples, which influenced development of our own plot party.
PROCESS OF MAKING THE PLOT PARTY
Before we started physically making the infographic we had to think what do we actually want to ask people and what kind of answers to offer. We firstly did a research of questions by ourselves and then shared it with each other and talked through it. I wrote down the questions which were a result of a research on a collaboration.
research questions
ASSIGNMENT
-an engaging manner of gathering information and personal views from various people and also acts as collaborative visual intervention that can be used to elicit responses about certain issues, to formulate (better) research questions, gather opinions and start a discussion, or identify priorities around a specific topic
-playful and informal middle ground between a questionnaire, an infographic and a discussion starter
creating a mock up board
Afterwards we discussed about which question would be the most relevant and we decided for "While collaborating, how important on a scale from 1-100, do you find underneath mentioned values?". Then we wrote down the possible values between everyone could choose.

what is a plot party?
To get inside in what way people want to collaborate, what people prefer about collaborations and what kind of collaborations...
Making installations with DATA, by making it: you get experience and also educational effect.
Goal

This is actually a part of the exhibition and not necessarily a plot party but I see few elements which related to it. You can see that there are several bags with different amount of elements in them and on each of the bags there are written results. I am guessing that this art piece actually is a result of a questionnaire or a plot party since it seems very informative but presenting the conclusions in a more interesting way.
This infographic includes a question which is placed in the middle of the wall and then people who walk by place a dot wherever they feel like according to the instructions of a question.
By connecting the yarns to the certain answers, at the end you create a certain structure which can be a great overview of the results.
This infographic includes a question and a short introduction or instructions according to which you need to fill in the infographic. Underneath are placed boxes which include different coloured balls. Person can place for different mood different ball in a certain box. At the end by the amount of balls you have a great overview of the answers.
After that I showed to Melissa the inspiring infographics I found and how we could translate those to make our own. Based on the materials we had we decided to create a mint coloured board with incorporation of foam boxes and portraits which we all made in the first week.
putting everything together
We found the graffiti spray in the storage but we ran out of it after painting the first 30cm, so it turned out really unevenly. We figured out that having the upper part painted a bit unevenly actually look nice so we turned out the worst into the best and proceed with working.
First I've made a rectangular coverage into which I could wrap the foam in. That didn't work out since the paper didn't stick onto the foam. That is why I continued by making folds around the rectangular coverage and beside that as well dotted cut ins which help with folding the sides.
First our idea was that each person would place their portrait on the foam board in-between 0 and 100 but after I have prepared all the illustrator files with names underneath, the laser cutter kept claiming that there are overlapped lines even though there was none, so I had to find another solution. With Melissa we have decided we are going to print only names without the portraits.
To prevent the burning of the paper I used the spacers but because of the air blowing, the small pieces overlapped and laser cutter cut through them instead of cutting the next one.
I learned how to turn off the air blowing in the laser cutter.
